In Oct 1942 the SS President Coolidge sailed into a defensive mine field entering Segond Channel in Vanuatu carrying 5000 army troops destined for the war effort in the Pacific. All but two men managed to escape the sinking vessel. In 2006 Mike Gerken spent a year filming the wreck and researching the history of this 650' luxury liner tconverted to a WWII troop transport ship vessel. With rare archival film and survivor accounts this documentary tells the tale of WWII's most famous shipwreck.
