In the heart of the Indian Ocean, 250 miles south west of the tip of India, lie a group of twenty-six atolls spread out over 35,000 square miles of ocean that form the island nation of the Republic of the Maldives. Due to its close proximity to the equator the Maldives is a picturesque tropical destination with world class scuba diving.
In 2008, I visited the Maldives to photograph the stunning reef systems and its inhabitants. For 7 days I lived upon a luxury dive yacht called the Manthiri and witnessed some of the best reef diving I have ever seen. Whale sharks, manta rays, lush coral gardens and numerous tropical fish species were some of the many highlights.
The images within this gallery are only a sample of what I experienced diving there. I hope one day to return again to the Maldives and add on to this portfolio of work.
